Hiring a car at Kos Airport is usually surprisingly cheap and offers good value for money. Much of the island is accessed from one main road, making it simple to reach your destination, with the mountain village of Zia being especially popular. However, do keep an eye out for locals on motorbikes, who enjoy overtaking at the most inappropriate of times. There is a cycle lane of the main road, which most bicycles tend to use safely.
